100 Year Old Vines Semillon 2012
Tasting Notes

Enhanced aroma and structure whilst building delicious citrus fruit flavours with complexity, depth and length.

Winemaking

Hand picked, these grapes come from the renowned Vine Vale sub-region from low yielding vines more than 120 years old.

Vinification

Many priceless old vine Semillon vineyards are under threat in the Barossa, however in making this wine we have preserved an important part of the Barossa's heritage. The nose shows lifted aromas of citrus fruits and lemon butter with a hint of vanilla from partial wild yeast and barrel fermentation and maturation. The palate is delicate, yet intense, with great line and length finishing with a natural and refreshing acidity.

The 2012 100 Year Old Vine Semillon presents vibrant notes of lemon juice, fresh straw and cut herbs with nuances of crushed stones and kumquat. Light-bodied and showing some oak, this elegant wine brings crisp grapefruit flavors to the palate that conclude in a long, citrus and mineral finish. It should age and drink to 2022+.

Bright, medium to full yellow colour; still fresh and lemon-curdy, youthful and not toasty. Gunsmoke, struck-flint nose. The palate dry and soft, nicely textured, with some density and a lovely balance and harmony that flows all the way through the long finish. Very dry.
