22 Medals Awarded at China Wine and Spirits Awards 2018

Château Tanunda was awarded a total of 22 medals at the 2018 China Wine and Spirits Awards.

A considerable achievement, receiving 12 Gold Medals, 5 Silver and 5 Bronze medals from the largest and most prestigious wine & spirits competition in China.

“We are thrilled that our wines have been recognised for their exemplary quality by the most important group of distributors, buyers and sommeliers in China and Hong Kong.” said Managing Director Michelle Geber.

“The judges completely understand the unique tastes of Chinese consumers as well as being directly responsible for the purchase of more than 90 million bottles a year! We are honoured that our wines have been recognised and endorsed by these key decision makers in China.

I’m especially pleased for the winemaking team that our new release 2017 Winemaker Barossa Shiraz and 2017 Winemaker Barossa Old Vines Shiraz Cabernet received gold medals. Both wines have been developed specifically for the Chinese market and this confirms we are completely in line with the market.”

Amongst the gold medal winning wines were the new release 2017 Grand Barossa Shiraz along with the ‘Old Vine Expressions’ 2015 100-Year-Old Vines Shiraz, 2015 100 Year-Old-Vines Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre and the single vineyard 2016 Terroirs of the Barossa Greenock Shiraz.

The CWSA (China Wine & Spirits Awards) is the biggest & most prestigious wine & spirits competition in China. ALL 100 the Judges are carefully selected for being the top BUYERS of wines and spirits for this market and are importers, distributors, retailers and sommeliers’. Wines and spirits enter from 55 countries and are ‘blind tasted’. Suitable for wines and spirits already selling in the marketplace along with those wanting to sell to China. There are two major competitions per year: CWSA in Autumn and the Best Value Awards in Spring.
