CHÂTEAU TANUNDA receives a Five Red Star rating three years running in the James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2015

The Château Tanunda team has done it again!

10 Wines Over 94 Points, 21 Wines Over 90 Points

The team at Château Tanunda is delighted to announce an outstanding set of results in the James Halliday Wine Companion 2015, the keenly anticipated wine publication widely regarded as an exemplary assessment of Australia’s 2,800 wineries and their wines.

For the third year running, Château Tanunda has received a coveted Five Red Star rating from Australia’s leading wine critic, an award which celebrates an “Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity”.  The award indicates a consistent record of excellence over time and one, that we here at Château Tanunda, are very proud of.

Château Tanunda owner John Geber comments “I’m delighted we have maintained our Five Red Star rating. It is this consistency whilst daring to be different and our relentless pursuit of quality which resonates with wine drinkers. This rating comes hot on the heels of our award as Australian Producer of the Year at the Berlin Wine Trophy 2014, an award we have won four times in the last five years and if that doesn’t demonstrate a constancy of high quality I don’t know what does! ”

“I am also encouraged that the oft-overlooked Barossa varieties of Riesling and Semillon are being recognised with scores of 94, 95 and 96 points.”

96 Points & Best of Semillon 2015  The Château 100 Year Old Vines Semillon 2013

The 2013 Château Tanunda 100 Year Old Vines Semillon scored an incredible 96 points and was  selected as just one of 24 wines in the Best of Semillon 2015 with a Special Value award to boot. A further twenty wines received ratings of 90 points and above with five Special Value awards, a true reflection of the top quality and great value-for-money wines in the Château Tanunda range.

In total, Château Tanunda received 90 points or more for twenty-one of its wines, including ten wines rated 94 points and above! A sure sign that senior winemaker Stuart Bourne and the team are in fine form. Bourne’s technical prowess sees the team coaxing the old vine fruit, from a myriad of long-term growers, into the bottle with great skill and finesse. The result? The ability to deliver wines of the highest quality  displaying the varietal characteristics which wine lovers have grown to love from this, Australia’s most famous wine region.
