Chateau Tanunda in top 10% of Wineries in Halliday Wine Companion 2017
Wednesday, 8 March 2017
Today saw the release of this year’s much anticipated Halliday Wine Companion 2018 and it has been another big one!
Château Tanunda was once again named a Red Five Star Winery for the third year running, with two wines rated 95 points, and a further 11 wines rated 90-94 Points.
Some of the highlights include:
50 Year Old Vines Shiraz 2014: 95 Points
Terroirs of the Barossa ‘Greenock’ Shiraz 2015: 95 Points
The Chateau 'Bethanian' Shiraz 2015: 94 Points
Grand Barossa Shiraz 2015: 94 Points
Grand Barossa Shiraz 2014: 94 Points
This is huge news for the Terroirs of the Barossa Greenock Shiraz 2015, and especially the 50 Year Old Vines Shiraz 2014 to get 95 Points after being awarded a Masters+Gold at the Global Syrah Masters 2017 just last week.
The Halliday Wine Companion is authored by the pre-eminent wine writer of Australia, James Halliday. It is widely regarded as the bible of Australian wine. A red five star rating recognizes sustained excellence and puts the winery into the top 10% of wineries in the country. It is classified as: “An outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity. Will have at least two wines rated at 95 points or above, and had a five-star rating for the previous two years. 282 wineries, 10%”
