Introducing the 2023 CollectionThursday, 20 July 2023
We are delighted to share the release of our latest vintage wines, including our rare and collectible The Everest and Old Vine Expressions range.
Leading up the collection we have the 2019 The Everest Shiraz. With only 65 dozen produced, this incredible barrel selection Shiraz delivers once again as the pinnacle of winemaking at Château Tanunda, rating 98 points with Sam Kim from Wine Orbit and 97 Points with Ken Gargett who describes it as "...Great now, even better in three to four years, and certain to drink superbly for at least the next 15 to 20 years." A cult wine amongst collectors of fine Australian Shiraz.
Next is the 150 Year Old Vines 1858 Field Blend 2018. A unique wine from Grenache, Malbec, and Mourvedre that count as some of the oldest continually producing vines in the world. A wine of power and elegance, it too has attracted high praise from authorities Ken Gargett (96 Points) and Jeni Port (95 Points).
The 100 Year Old Vines Shiraz 2019 has already made a statement as possibly the best 100 Year Old Vines we have ever produced. It is a refined Barossa Shiraz that rates with the very best Shiraz wines anywhere in the world. The 2019 was named 'Best Shiraz in the World' and a 'Master Wine' at the Global Syrah Masters 2022 in the UK, it has also attracted the attention of Andrew Caillard MW (97 Points) and Erin Larkin of the Wine Advocate (95 Points). The production of only 206 cases from the warm-dry 2019 vintage, the wine is expected to cellar well until 2040-2045 but will not be around for long.
For a more powerful classic Barossa take on Shiraz, our 50 Year Old Vines Shiraz 2019 is a crowd-pleaser. Ken Gargett describes it as "...a stunning Barossa Shiraz with ten to fifteen years ahead of it" (95 Points), and Andrew Caillard MW called it a "....Delicious wine with lovely fruit complexity, tannin structure and vinosity. 95 Points".
Likewise the 50 Year Old Vines Cabernet Sauvignon 2019. Sam Kim describes it as "Sumptuous and delicious" rating it 95 Points, this exemplifies what great Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon can offer by way of power and structure. With only 450 dozen produced, 40% down in yield from the previous year, lovers of great Cabernet will be impressed.
It is a formidable lineup of exceptional Barossa wines in this 2023 collection. World-class wines that will be highly sought after and enjoyed over the next two decades.
