Grand Barossa Shiraz 2015
Tasting Notes

Grand Barossa Shiraz epitomises the premium international reputation for Shiraz which has made the Barossa Valley famous.

Lifted aromas of blackberry, plum and black pepper are accompanied by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate.

Winemaking

All of the grapes are fermented in small batches to retain their sub-regional characters. After destemming, the wine ferments for 7 days on skins at 26°C in small open fermenters and is hand plunged twice daily.

This encourages maximum extraction yet retaining the dense, spicy fruit flavours which Shiraz is renowned for.

The wine is gently pressed before spending up to 18 months in a combination new and seasoned French and American oak barrels in our cellars.

This wine boasts a satin velour of impeccably massaged tannins and gentle acidity, coating the mouth as a creamy duo. Swishing the wine about the gums reveals ample boysenberry fruit, hints of anise and an echo of pepper and mace on the finish. An attractive dichotomy of svelte richness married to a certain elegance. -Ned Goodwin

Bright violet. Riper blueberry, cherry compote, violet and cracked pepper on the powerfully scented nose. Appealingly sweet dark berry and floral pastille flavors are joined by a subtle note of mocha that builds in the glass. Gains enery with air and finishes on a smoky dark fruit note, showing powerful thrust, harmonious tannins and impressive persistence.

This is gorgeously ripe and sweetly fragrant on the nose showing cassis, dark chocolate, tobacco and cedary oak notes, leading to a beautifully supple palate that’s ripe and lingering. It’s mouthfilling and delicious with a lengthy silky finish. At its best: Now to 2029
