Terroirs of the Barossa 'Ebenezer District' Shiraz 2009
Sold Out
Tasting Notes

Ebenezer is located in the Northern most reaches of the Barossa and wines from this region are typically characterised by lifted aromas of lavender and spice. The palate is full of red fruits, leather, cedar and fine, talc like tannins.

Winemaking

The grapes were destalked (separating berries from the bunch) and placed uncrushed into small stainless steel open fermenters. A cultured yeast was used to start the fermentation and the tanks were hand plunged spending 7 days on skins at 28° C. Further maturation in a mixture of French and American Oak for 18 months has resulted in a wine of great structure and finesse.

Attractive aroma of spice, eucalyptus, cocoa beans, blueberry and white pepper. Very fine wine with upfront raspberry, violet and rose petal notes. A simple blockbuster balanced with fine integrated oak and a long, earthy finish. Fabulous. OCTOBER 2011

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2009 Terroirs of the Barossa Ebenezer Shiraz has a very peppery / earthy nose with notes of truffles, tree bark and dusty soil over anise, dried plums and blackberry preserves. Medium to full bodied, it’s taut in the mouth with just enough fruit, a medium level of chewy tannins, crisp acid and a long savory finish. Drinking now, it should remain good to 2020+ Drink: 2012 – 2020
