Terroirs of the Barossa Eden Valley Shiraz 2017
Tasting Notes

The wine reflects the slate and granite soils with strong mineral notes, and fruit flavours of blackberry, Morello cherry. Complex deeper notes of earth and cured meats bring the palate to a long and evenly weighted finish.

Winemaking

To ensure the unique character of this sub region is exemplified in the wine, small open fermenters and our basket press were employed to gently extract the wine.

Aging in the finest quality new and seasoned French (70%) and American oak barrels has created a wine that respects and expresses its place of origin

The Eden Valley with its altitude and ancient soils creates a range of Shiraz flavours that are taut and more edgy than the valley floor.

Soil: red-grey loams with slate and granite

 Altitude: 400m

The wine offers lovely ripeness and perfumed aromas of dark plum, strawberry tart, vanilla, olive and dark spice on the nose, followed by a succulent palate that is plump and beautifully rounded. The wine is wonderfully balanced and harmonious with loads of tasty flavours. At its best: now to 2027.

Sweet plummy shiraz aromas, the fruit is very ripe and rich, some red fruit notes rather than black. Lovely sweet fruit, and it has a touch more elegance than the Barossa floor shirazes. Plenty of aniseed and sweet raspberry fruit flavours. Drink: 2019-2032
