Terroirs of the Barossa Marananga Shiraz 2016
Tasting Notes

Marananga, centred in the North West quadrant of the Barossa provides some of the Valley’s most powerful wines. The red brown clay loam soils with schists and siltstone yield flavours of jam and fruitcake, cardamom, blueberry fruits, cocoa powder with an undercurrent of roasted meats and crackling.

Winemaking

To ensure the unique character of this sub region is exemplified in the wine, small open fermenters and our basket press were employed to gently extract the wine. Aging in the finest quality oak for 18 months and selection of the truest barrels has created a wine that respects and expresses its place of origin.

Very deep, bright, youthful purple red colour, fresh and vibrant, smelling of violets, fresh tobacco, red berries and other flowers. Query stalks/whole-bunch ferment? The palate is intense and firm, full-bodied and powered by masses of mouth-puckering tannin. A very big, intense, flavour-packed but slightly callow, undeveloped wine which has a big future ahead of it. Cellar it! 11/4/2018 Drink 2020 to 2045

A heady mix of black plums and blue fruits, laden with spice and integrated cedary oak. The full-bodied palate takes everything its stride from the supple, velvety tannins to the excellent length. It should last some distance. Drink By 2030
