Tasting Notes

This synergistic duo seamlessly combines the elegance, power and structure only achievable in a blended wine. Lifted aromas of blackberry, blueberry and black pepper supported by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate with a long elegant finish.

Winemaking

All of the grapes were fermented separately at the winery in small 3 tonne fermenters. The grapes were destalked (separating berries from the bunch) and placed uncrushed into small stainless steel open fermenters. A cultured yeast was used to start the fermentation and the tanks were hand plunged spending 7 days on skins at 28° C.

Further maturation in a mixture of AP John French and American oak for 18 months has resulted in a wine of great structure and finesse.

Vineyard

For this limited release wine we selected Cabernet Sauvignon (73%) from the Altona and Bethany sub-regions and Malbec (27%) from the Nuriootpa and vine vale sub-regions with the parcels matured for eighteen months in seasoned A.P. John barrels.

Good colour in both depth and hue; a 73%/27% blend from four areas of the Barossa Valley; a fleshy and rich wine with masses of black cabernet fruits, and plum jam and chocolate from the malbec. Matured for 18 months in used AP John barrels, the oak working synergistically.
