The Chateau Single Vineyard Shiraz 2017
Tasting Notes

Lifted aromas of blackberry, blueberry and black pepper supported by spicy dark berry fruits on the palate. The finish is long and framed by elegant, fine grained tannins from eighteen months maturation in new and seasoned oak.

Winemaking

The grapes are destemmed but not crushed, and fermented for 7 days in open fermenters with regular plunging and remontage.

Upon completion of fermentation, The skins are gently basket pressed before maturing for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels.

Vineyard

This wine originates from the deep sandy loam soils of the Chateau Tanunda Vine Vale vineyard, famous for some of the most elegant and fine-structured expressions of Barossa Shiraz.

Sweetly fruited and fabulously fragrant, the wine shows delicious notes of cassis, dark cherry, cocoa and cedar characters, followed by a supple palate that is wonderfully weighted and smooth. It is opulent yet beautifully balanced and structured, finishing long and comforting. At its best: now to 2027.

The single vineyard is in the Vine Vale district, the wine matured for 18 months in French oak. The bright, full colour lives up to the promise of the vintage, the flavours running from red to black, the tannins fine, the texture good. The wine has balance and elegance encountered once in a blue moon with an alcohol of 15.5%. Drink by 2032
