The Everest Old Vine Grenache 2005
Tasting Notes
Dense purple colour, the nose displays notes of blackberry, cherry, lavender and an intense licorice spice. The wine is incredibly dense and multi - layered yet still retains an elegance and softness as well as a textural purity that few wines can achieve. Supple tannins from the gentle press merely complement the fruit, silky and rich yet impressively interwoven into the wine. The fruit/acid balance ensures excellent length and provides a purity of structure for long term ageing.
Winemaking

Fermented in French oak puncheons, hand plunged 3 times daily. Completed MLF in oak and then matured for 16 months in oak, matured on lees to maintain structure and fruit profile, minimal SO2

NB - THREE (3) BOTTLE LIMIT PER CUSTOMER - Strictly allocated

Has good focus and length in a medium-bodied frame; while varietal sweet confiture flavours are there, the slinky, long finish is impressive, as is the price. Cork DRINK 2015 DATE TASTED Feb 08
