Tasting Notes

Dense ruby colour, with an intense, enticing nose of rich, red berry fruits and subtle French oak. The wine is incredibly dense and focussed with a richness and purity that simply exudes top class Barossa Shiraz.

Rich dark chocolate, mocha and cedar spice are all to the fore but the central core is highly focussed. Supple tannins from the gentle press merely complement the fruit, silky and rich yet impressively interwoven into the wine. The fruit/ acid balance ensures excellent length and provides a purity of structure for long term ageing.

Winemaking

Fermented in 1 ton open fermenters over 9 day period with hand plunging twice daily. Basked pressed and then matured for 18 months in French oak on lees to maintain structure and fruit profile. The wine is then bottled and maturation for a further 24 months before release.

Only 33 dozen bottles made, so the number of individual vineyard blocks must have been limited. Matured for 18 months in new oak, and at least for now, it's too oaky. You can see the quality of the fruit underneath, so it has to be respected. Drink By 2030

Very deep, dense red colour with traces of purple and black in the hue. The bouquet has earthy, terracotta and pepper savoury notes, showing some bottle-age, espresso coffee too, while the palate is full-bodied, rich and savoury and filled with fine powdery tannins. The flavours are still a little straightforward—but it's still young. Full-bodied, concentrated and fleshy, with luscious fruit sweetness. A sumptuous, hedonistic wine with lavish fruit, oak and smooth tannins.
