Winemaking

The Whole Dam Family celebrates the historic relationship between Chateau Tanunda, the Barossa Valley and its generations of grape growers and winemakers who love nothing more than to let their hair down and kick up their heels.

For this limited release wine we selected The Whole Dam Family of meridional French varieties: Shiraz (41%) from Stonewell, Grenache (24%) from Tanunda, Mouvedre (22%) from Bethany and Greenock, Carignan (7%) and Cinsault (6%) from Vine Vale.

The grapes were picked, fermented and matured separately spending ten months in a combination of new and seasoned American and French oak barrels.

A 41/24/22/7/6% blend; the kaleidoscopic array of grapes were all separately fermented and matured in French oak for 10 months prior to blending. It is full of life, with both red and black fruits in joyful and juicy abandon, with fine-grained tannins, and a splash of French oak.
